The Australian of the Year Awards 2017 - A travelling exhibition

Date: 25-May-2017

Capacity: Not Set Available

Each year, the Australian of the Year Awards recognise and celebrate outstanding Australians. As role models for us all, they inspire us through their achievements and challenge us to make our own contribution to creating a better Australia.
This exhibition features objects, selected by each state and territory recipient, that have deep personal significance. From a tiny trophy to a giant plaster model of a nose, the objects tell us something about the recipient’s life, aspirations and experiences.
We are proud to see the inclusion of NSW 2017 Australian of the Year, Deng Adut. A former refugee from South Sudan, he is now a criminal lawyer who lives and works in Western Sydney.
This is a travelling exhibition developed by the National Museum of Australia, in collaboration with the National Australia Day Council. Its first tour stop will be Liverpool City Library.
