Bill Phippen, a member of Engineers Australia Sydney Division Heritage Committee and long-time member/volunteer with ARHS NSW, will speak about Australian Railway Historical Society, its aims, activities - offering diverse Archival examples.
In 2010 Bill became manager of the Railway Resource Centre which led to writing and was also named NSW Senior Volunteer of the Year - and by the Sydney Morning Herald as one of the 100 most influential people in Sydney.
In 2013 Bill received the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to people with disability and to community. Engineers Australia named Bill as one of the 100 most influential engineers in Australia due to work with ‘Technical Aid to the Disabled’ – becoming an EA Fellow.
Bill’s had a long interest in railways, perhaps instilled by his father who had taken him as a four year old to the centenary exhibitions at Sydney Terminal station.
