Seniors Festival: Author Talk: James Roy and Noel Zihabamwe, One Thousand Hills

15-Feb-2019

Come along to hear James Roy talk about his latest book, One Thousand Hills. Set during the Rwandan Genocide of 1994, the book was co-written with Noel Zihabamwe, and was awarded 2016 NSW Premier’s Young People’s History Prize and the 2017 Ethel Turner Prize at the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards.
One Thousand Hills is this story told through the eyes of a young boy. In the book, the boy’s name is Pascal. In real life, that boy’s name – or the name of a boy very much like him – was Nöel. Multi-award winning author James Roy and Nöel Zihabamwe will speak about the story behind the story, the process of collaborating on such a difficult book, the friendship that formed as it was written, and what insights they hope One Thousand Hills offers to the reader.
