Travelling through the universe: What do you know about the cosmos?

Travel through the universe with an awe-inspiring Space experience. The Planetarium will engage, amaze and inspire as we go on a 360° adventure through the Cosmos. Discover the Moon and the secrets of our nearest Star, watch meteors hurtle through space and hear about the latest research being carried out by astronomers in Australia.

There will be three sessions, places are limited and bookings are essential.

Session 1 - Moonbase One - 10am-10:45am

Come along on an amazing adventure as we strive to understand our magnificent neighbour, The Moon. Taking place across the night of a full moon, we join a Virtual Reality games developer as she struggles to work out what is wrong with her new game. The game is set on the Moon and is due for launch very soon. The show features stunning visualisations of the Moon’s violent formation, captures the achievements of lunar exploration, and demystifies natural phenomena such as eclipses and the changing phases of the Moon.

Session 2 - The Sun, Our Living Star - 10:45am-11:30am

The Sun has shone on our world for four and a half billion years. The sunlight that warms our skin today has been felt by every person who has ever lived. It is our nearest star and our planet’s powerhouse, the source of the energy that drives our winds, our weather and all life. Discover the secrets of our local star and experience never-before-seen images of the Sun’s violent surface in immersive full dome format.

Session 3 - Capturing the Cosmos - 11:30am-12:15pm

Imagine being able to see more than astronomers have ever been able to see before. What would it be like to peer back in cosmic time, into the vast blackness of space and witness how the universe has evolved into what we see around us today?
There’s a whole lot of sky up there. And not only are we starting to discover what’s in it, but we’re starting to see how it all fits together.
