Liverpool Pioneers’ Memorial Park (The ‘Old’ Cemetry 1821-1958) is the resting place of more than 13,000 people. Here lies buried the early pioneers of Liverpool; a community of colonial officials, military personnel, free settlers, convicts, and members of their families including infants and young children, who sadly died early.
2021 Commemorates the Bicentenary of this resting place. Notables & New Discoveries is a re-assessment of the Park’s inhabitants and hierarchy. Leveraging a newly commissioned research, photography and drone videography, this exhibition writes another chapter in the story of this resting place. 200 years since the first burial, this exhibition provides a thoughtful contemplation of this special place in our city’s history. It is a robust sketch of the Park, through the significant people that have come to define it.
