Collectors Club

Friday, 25 February 2022 - Friday, 28 October 2022 | 10:30am - 11:30am | Liverpool | General

Why do people collect?

Since ancient times people have collected objects. Some do it for pleasure, others to learn more about the objects. Some seek status or prestige, and many do it to show loyalty to their team, country, or hometown. Some just get attracted to a genre and form a habit. Libraries collect books and other objects to share with their communities. Museums collect objects to tell stories and preserve artefacts for future generations.

Are you a collector? Are you interested meeting other collectors?

Liverpool Regional Museum is starting a friendly social club for people interested in collecting, with the aim for people to meet, talk and learn about different collections with fellow collectors. While your collections may be varied in size, scale, and subject there is common ground. Facilitated by Museum staff, the club provides an opportunity to discuss and learn about the things people collect, share tips for the display and storage of your collections, and learn what curators do with museum collections.

Remember to bring photographs or an example of your collection with you. Light morning tea will be served at the end of the session.
