Conditions of Library Membership

Anyone aged 16 or over can join the library and immediately use our online resources. To borrow physical items from the library, you'll need to visit one of our branches and show some identification with your name and address.

For customers under the age of 16, a parent or guardian needs to visit the library to sign up the junior member with identification showing the parent/guardian proof of identity, and additional identification showing the family link, such as a Medicare card.

Please read these conditions carefully.

By joining the Library, I agree to the following terms:

  1. Pay for the loss of, or damage to, any Library materials.
  2. Pay any fees incurred including overdue fines.
  3. Notify the Library if my membership card is lost or stolen. I will remain responsible for my card and its use until I have done so.
  4. Notify the Library of any changes to my contact details or name.
  5. Abide by the Library’s policies and be guided by the Library’s Customer Service Charter.

Note:

Parents and guardians are responsible for their children’s use of the Library, including the Internet.

Application for membership requires you to provide personal information as defined in the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act. The Library needs this information so that it can process your application in order to provide Library services. The supply of this information is voluntary; however without membership many services will not be available to you.

This information will only be used within Liverpool City Council, unless the Library needs to use or disclose your personal information for law enforcement purposes.

The Library is required to retain this information. You have the right to access and to correct any personal information concerning you.
