Digging Deep – Making the most of family history research with historian Linda Emery

Saturday, 20 August 2022 | 11am - 12:30pm | Liverpool | General

With so much material now available online, family history has never been more accessible. In this talk, Linda will look not only at the basic tools for putting your family history together, but also some less-utilised resources that can add colour and detail to the lives of your ancestors.

Linda Emery is a freelance historian, with a particular research interest in 19th century Australian history. She is Archivist for the Berrima District Historical & Family History Society and a Councillor of the Royal Australian Historical Society in Sydney. She is a member of the Wingecarribee Shire Council Heritage Advisory Committee which reviews matters relating to heritage issues in the Southern Highlands.

Between 2008 and 2017, Linda was a member of the research team for the SBS television program Who Do You Think You Are, a researcher for the 2018 ABC series, Monash and Me and more recently has worked on the SBS television series Every Family has a Secret. She has written a number of books and articles and contributes regularly to the Southern Highlands lifestyle magazine Highlife.

There will be the opportunity to meet members of Liverpool Genealogy society and visit the Liverpool Regional Museum‘s Family History research library at the end of the talk.
