Seafaring Yarns historian and author, Bruce Shying, will be visiting Liverpool City Library to tell the story about the loss of the cargo ship, Sydney Cove, off the coast of Tasmania in 1798.
The story shows how the shipwreck of the Sydney Cove helped to change the Penal Settlement, (at the time under the control of the mutineers of the N.S.W. Corp) and how this particular shipwreck helped to turn this ‘neglected settlement’ into the ‘City of Sydney’, in less than 50 years.
